Asus EEE PC T91 And T101H Tablet Netbooks Introduced, Boast a Swiveling Touchscreen

Asus keeps showing us it has a lot of stuff to be proud of, as the company unveils the T91 and the T101H tablet netbooks at the CES 2009 show in Vegas. Both devices come with a swiveling touchscreen, allowing them to be used as tablet computers, as the T91 packs an 8.9-inch display while the T101H has a 10-inch screen. Both feature Z520 Intel atom processors, together with a built-in GPS navigation system and even a TV tuner, which is a little suprising and preliminary withing netbooks. Regretfully, there are no further details, concerning other specs, availability or pricing.

Update2: Looks like Asus’ Eee PC T91 has been officially confirmed to have a first UK debut somewhere around early June, priced at £450 ($685). Still no word about a US release, but we’re following the announcements very carefully.

Update3: Apparently, these to are expected to launch by the end of August in the UK.

iRiver P7 PMP Makes a Debut at CES 2009

iRiver likes to keep many of its announcements to the CES show in Vegas. This time, the Koreans are offering a glimpse at the new P7 PMP, a 4.3-inch media player with WQVGA (480 x 272) touchscreen, an FM tuner, a microphone, a microSD slot, 7EQ and either 4GB, 8GB or 16GB Flash storage memories to choose from. You get a wide range of multimedia support, along with SRS WOW HD audio enhancement and strong battery that provides up to 50 hours of continuous audio playback. Still no word on price or availability, but in addition to the P7, the Koreans has officially introduced the E50 and the E100 Season II players, which we’ve already discussed recently. Update1: The iRiver P7 is up for a Stateside pre-order at J&R, for $200, as shipping is still unknown but marked “coming Soon”.

Update2: Looks like South Korean fanboys can finally order the 8GB P7 PMP for ₩200,000 ($160), and a little more, in case they’re after the 16GB version.

CES 2008: iRiver Unit II Was Saved For Dessert

iRiver was a major showing player at the CES this year. Just before recapping, the company introduced a new media center prototype, the iRiver Unit II. This model is a futuristic combination of audio, video, TV tuner, FM tuner, internet WiFi, SD expansion and a 7″ portable control display, loaded with some cool widgets. The Unit II is packed with some advanced features, such as mini handy keyboard, speaker dock, VOIP connectivity and various connections, including component, RCA, RGB, optical, HDMI and more. The device is expected to be released in 2009 for 700$. check out the video:

CES 2008: Asus R50A UMPC Unveiled

So far, a large number of MID/UMPC devices have been introduced at the CES 2008. This time, it is Asus turn to unveil its latest, the R50A. This device is another advanced UMPC machine, equipped with the top-notch technology. Check out some of the features:

  • Display: 5.6″ TFT LCD touchscreen (1024 x 600).
  • Processor: Intel Silverthorne 1.3GHz, with Intel Menlow platform.
  • Memory: 1GB
  • Features: Webcam, Microphone, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, external speaker, global positioning system, 3G/3.5G connectivity, fingerprint reader.
  • Dimension: 200 x 85 x 20 mm 520g.

CES 2008: Viliv Vant X70 PMP Unveiled

After presenting the X5, Korean corporation, Viliv, introduced another PMP, the Vant X70. This new media player is bigger and stronger than its brother, yet sharing the same advanced qualities.

CES 2008: iRiver M20 GPS-PMP Unveiled

iRiver is pumping us with new products every day, at the CES show. This time, it is the M20, a media player, combined with a GPS navigation system. The M20 turns to be an update version of the iRiver NV device, with a 7″ LCD touchscreen,  DMB TV, FM radio tuner, video and audio capabilities. Other details are still vague.

Monster iCableLink Extends Your iPhone’s Jack

iPhone owners are familiar with this problem, if you want to use your advanced earbuds instead of the stock iPhone buds, you can’t, since the iPhone is equipped with a proprietary headset jack. To solve this glitch, Monster introduced the iCableLink, a flexible cable adapter that allows you to connect any earbuds to your iPhone. Mind you, with the new cable, it is not possible to pause music and answer calls while listening. Price should be around 10$.

CES 2008: A Range Of Wiimote Weaponry Unveiled

CTA Digital introduced some new armory, designed for the Nintendo Wii game console. The new line of shooting accessories includes a Magnum, a pump-action shotgun and a sub-machine gun. All the weaponry are equipped with a red laser pointer, to let you feel like the real deal. Availability should be within several weeks.

The Korean brand, VILIV, unveiled a new PMP device, at the CES show. The X5 is an impressive device, equipped with some cool and advanced features:

CES 2008: Sandisk Sansa View Gets 32GB Storage Size

Sandisk announced on a new upgraded model of its Sansa View media player. The new device comes with a 32GB capacity and features the following:

CES 2008: Mitsubishi Introduced A Laser TV

So far, we’ve seen many product upgrades at the CES show, but this one threats to be the next revolution. Mitsubishi unveiled a laser HDTV with a 65″ screen display, in a press conference. This new TV produces twice the colors of any available HDTV, to create rich bright and colorful picture. Price and release date are still unknown.

CES 2008: iRiver LPlayer Run Of A Mill

iRiver unveiled another player, this time it’s the LPlayer. The new device is equipped with 2″ TFT LCD screen and features video/music player, FM radio tuner, photo viewer, text reader 2/4/8GB storage and d-click interface. This player supports the new mysterious Spinn technology.

CES 2008: Pioneer AVIC-F500BT Unveiled

Pioneer introduced the AVIC-F500BT GPS navigation system. The new device features  a 5.8″ WVGA  touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0,  USB port,  SD  slot and more. The new system supports voice control of iPods and Bluetooth enabled devices. Release is expected to be in the spring.

CES 2008: LG UMPC Unveiled

LG joined the UMPC celebration at the CES, by announcing on a new MID/UMPC machine. The new LG device features the new ultra mobile Menlow platform from Intel, along side the new 1.33GHz 45nm Silverthorne processor. Price is expected to be around 1000 Euros.

CES 2008: iRiver Spinn PMP

Another iRiver player unveiled at the CES show, the iRiver Spinn. This beautiful glowing PMP has a 3.3″ AMOLED display (480 x 272), DMB TV, FM radio tuner, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD slot, microphone, 4/8/16GB storage and more. Like the P20, this player supports the new iRiver Spinn technology, probably to scroll menus with a “warm analog controls”, but we are not sure about the meaning of this slogan.

CES 2008: iRiver Wing UMPC

Is the new iRiver Wing UMPC reminding you something? Well…If you thought about the Asus Eee PC, you guessed right. As we mentioned, the huge impression (and sales) of the Eee ultra mini PC, made other companies reconsider their line of products. The iRiver WING is a WiFi enabled portable device with a 4″ touchscreen and 4GB of flash storage. It runs Windows CE Pro and equipped with a full QUERTY keyboard. Other features include web browsing, emails, FM radio, VOIP support and SD expansion.

PSP Officialy Skyped – Is This The Mic?

Recent speculations, concerning Skype application on the PSP console are becoming reality. Sony announced the availability of Skype on PSP, at the end of this month. Once the new firmware is released and installed into the device, a small Skype icon will pop up in the network section and users will be able to login with their Skype account or create a new one. As other Skype users, PSP owners will have the privilege to talk freely with their Skype friends, make calls to any regular phone or receive calls on their PSP device. Mind you, this will work only on a PSP Slim devices.

This new formation requires a designated microphone, to enable users make or receive calls on their PSP. A Japanese website, Famitsu, unveiled a designed PSP mic, together with some presumably pictures of the new interface.

CES 2008: Sony Mylo 2 Goes Live Officially

After months of speculations, Sony unveiled the Mylo2 at the CES show. This cool mini PMP device is a portable wireless player with a neat QWERTY sliding keyboard that features WiFi internet surfing, Flash Lite 3 support (for youtube) and instant messaging communication. Other features include:

  • 3.5″ touchscreen (800×480).
  • Storage Size: 1GB.
  • Audio: MP3, WMA, AAC, ATRAC.
  • Video: MPEG-4.
  • Pictures: JPEG, transcode GIF, TIFF, PNG and BMP.
  • Features: 1.3 MP camera, mini USB, Skype support, instant messaging support (AIM, Yahoo, Gtalk), and more.
  • Widget: panels for YouTube, Google, Facebook and others.

    CES 2008: iRiver P20 PMP

    It seems like a very active year for iRiver. The company generates many of the news, coming out from the CES show direction. Their recent PMP announcement is the P20, a 4.1″ AMOLED screen with 16M colors. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0, FM tuner, DMB tuner, microphone, TV output, SD card slot USB host and 120/160GB of storage. The new gimmick in the P20 is the Spinn. It is an analog toggle wheel that uses the Spinn every turn, with the new interface.

    CES 2008: iRiver Homme Music Player

    Not much of information was released on this mini DAP, and It seems iRiver has an interest to keep details obscured, but one thing is certain, it is very thin and looks like a lighter. The iRiver Homme is equipped with a small display (under the cover), and two functional buttons on the top.
