We’ve already seen that Eee PC 1008P, coated with alligator patterns upside down, back in December 2009. At that time, we were told it would be branded as a “Seashell 2″ edition, but now, when it’s officially out, we know for sure it’s a Pine Trail netbook, packing Atom N450 processor inside. Designed by Karim Rashid, the hot pink/coffee brown machine runs a Windows 7 Home Premium under a 10.1-inch hood, which also hides within 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, Intel’s GMA 3150 graphics, 1.3MP camera, and a cool swappable 3-cell battery, providing up to 6 hours life. It looks like Asus wants to make it harder and harder to decide which netbook should be better for us to buy. And after the company already announced the 1005P/1005PE Pine Trail netbooks which suppose to be released somewhere around mid-January, it now releases for pre-orders the Eee PC 1001P that boasts exactly the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU, but includes only Windows XP preloaded inside, instead of the popular newcomer, Windows 7 Starter. Besides that single core Atom processor, the new portable clamshell-style machine will also include a 10.1-inch 1024 × 600 display, along Intel’s GMA3150 graphics, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a 0.3-MP webcam, WiFi, Mic and a 4400 mAh battery. Amazon.de has it listed for your pre-orders at €249 (about $360) and shipping is set to the 3rd week of 2010. No signs for US appearance at this point.

Update: Looks like Amazon US finally adds the Asus 1001P to its netbook listing with that same specs mentioned up, for $339.99.

Not that anyone was getting surprised reading it – but for those of you who were disconnected from RSS feeds lately, and deprived themselves of glancing at any tech news, mind you that a second set of  Intel Pine Trail platform is about to hit the netbooks scene, and should be out at any moment. And Taiwanese corp Asus, to be one of the first to unveil its latest state-of-the-art lineup, which apparently includes two Eee PC Seashell machines, both pack Intel’s 1.66GHz Atom N450 “Pineview” CPUs (45-nanometer), as the first one, Eee PC 1005P, houses a 160GB hard drive, basic 6-cell Li-ion battery and matte 10-inch 1024×768 LED backlit screen, while the second, Eee PC 1005PE, comes with a bigger, 250GB HDD, stronger 6-cell Li-ion battery, more powerful Intel GMA 3150 graphics and that same size 10-inch display, only with a glossy panel integrated inside. The two, will be offered either in Black or White flavors, at the time they will be released – January 11th – priced at £211 ($345) and £235 ($380), respectively. Asus is on a roll, brings Nvidia ION capabilities into its latest Eee Box EB1501 nettop, along a slim attractive design and a very powerful lineup, which apparently includes (besides NVIDIA’s Ion chipset) an Intel Atom 330 dual-core processor, together with 2GB of RAM (expandable up to 4GB), 250GB of storage capacity, an integrated DVD burner, Wifi, and various usable ports like VGA and HDMI outputs, 6 X USB hubs, SDHC card reader, ethernet, eSata and headphone/microphone jacks, placed on front. Windows 7 OS suppose to handle the entire platform when it loads up, while accessories wise, you get a nice rounded metal base, paired with a compact USB keyboard and a basic wired optical mouse – all packed in the bundle – running for a starting price of €399 (about $580), in Europe. Update: Amazon has the Eee Box EB1501 listed on its website and available for pre-orders. Price tag stands at $479, which grant you access to Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom 330, 2GB of RAM, NVIDIA Ion graphics, 250GB storage and Windows 7 Home Premium on top – sounds tempting.

Asus, as you may have heard, has planned to introduce this cool Pinky-flavored Seashell 2 netbook (1008P), designed by Karim Rashid, next month at the CES show, but the guys at HardwareZone apparently managed to take some photos of this foursquare textured wonder a lot before its time. From what we know so far, it’s going to include Intel’s latest N450 processor, along a 10-inch display, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD and VGA output, stuffed into a mini-USB adapter. Other ports are closed behind small compartment doors and additional battery (if you have one at your disposal) now has a special room to hide, right at the back.  Besides that, we have no other details to share, so be patient until next month and meanwhile, enjoy the Taiwanese new Eee PC style.

We knew it was just a matter of time until netbooks would eventually show up with Windows 7 bundled inside, and now that Microsoft’s superb operating system is officially up – looks like Redmond’s moment of truth has finally come. The new Seashell style models the Taiwanese actively plan for a mid-November launch are the 1005HR-WS and 1005HE-WS, which both include a 10.1-inch display, along with an Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, a 0.3MP webcam and a 6-cell battery with up to 8.4 hours of working life. However, while the 1005HR-WS packs a WXGA platform (1366 x 768 resolution) and 250GB hard drive storage, its fellow, the 1005HE-WS, boasts a WSVGA flavor (whatever that means) and either 250GB HDD or 160GB HDD, to pick at your choice. Japan prices mention Â¥49,800 ($545) for the “HR” edition, as “HE” buns will run for Â¥46,800 ($510) or Â¥44,800 ($490), depends on size.

For many, the 1005HA is probably considered as one of the best netbooks available around, but that as a fact didn’t seem to stop Asus from launching another. The latest, recently emerged in Japan, was tagged as a “business edition” flavor, which frankly, has nothing exceptional inside. In any case, for $700(!) you get yourself an Atom N280 processor, tucked with a 10.1-inch display, 2GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Windows XP Professional edition (no Windows 7?) and a 10.5 hours battery, for every single charge. Well, not exactly the best deal out there, is it?

It’s only been three weeks, since our wondering eyes first came across Asus’ 120N Nvidia Ion-based netbook machine, hiding out in a much speculated Eee PC road map slide that popped out in the wild. And here we are, not so long after, talking about it as a certain thing, scheduled for release somewhere this Autumn with a $500 price tag range and a high resolution 12-inch panel (1,366 x 768). And if we’d all be speaking Chinese well, the 250GB hard drive that Asus has stuffed inside, sitting along with 2GB of RAM, Intel Atom N270 processor, 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, probably wouldn’t make us surprised – well, maybe this N270 CPU, which seems to be too slow for such an input. Stay tuned, it should be hitting Western shores, packed with a Windows 7 OS, in a month or so.

Update1: Look, the guys from Eee PC Italia just got their hands on Asus 1201N and 1201HA full specs list and shared them online. Basically, both netbook machines will presumably pack a 12-inch 1366 x 768 displays, while the 1201N, which suppose to be the strongest among the two, will include a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N330 dual core processor, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA ION (GeForce 9400M) graphics chipset and 320GB hard drive, as its entry level sibling, the 1201HA suppose to have a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, along with Intel US15W / GMA 500 graphics, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive. Update2: Apparently, Asus Eee PC 1201N is scheduled to be released in Europe somewhere towards the end of the year (AKA: December), with this Atom Dual Core 330 CPU, Nvidia ION graphics chipset and a 12.1 1,366 x 768 display  – all compiled with a Windows 7 OS. Prices are yet to be determined.

Update3: Looks like the 1201N is up in Italy earlier than expected, offered on sale for 500 Euros – huzzah!

Update4: Now it’s official, as Asus has finally released its ION-based Eee PC 1201N machine, with all those nifty specs and cool features we’ve managed to see earlier, which include that 12.1-inch 1366 x 768 LED-backlit display, together with a 1.6GHz dual-core Atom 330 processor, either 2 or 3GB of RAM and storage capacity at 250 or 320GB HDD at your choice. Furthermore, you get a six-cell battery and Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded aboard and running on your shelves somewhere around December for only $499. Update5: It seems the Eee PC 1201HA’s debut has finally arrived to the US, as Asus’ second 12.1-inch netbook, which sports a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520, together with 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, WiFi, and 6 hours battery, is up on sale on Best Buy, this time for the lower price of $329.99 but with an XP flavor pre-loaded inside. Seven fanboys should be skipping to the 1201N versionto catch up with Redmond’s latest version.

Update6: And, looks like Amazon has the Asus Eee PC 120N listed for pre-order, starting at $499 which will buy you a 12.1-inch display with Intel’s 1.6GHz N330 dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM (up to 8GB), 250GB HDD, WiFi, Bluetooth and last but not least, Microsoft’s Windows 7 Premium edition, already loaded into it. Assuming these two following roadmap slides, that recently surfaced up on Eeeuser.com, are real, one should expect seeing a lot of intensive activity from Asus direction, in the coming months, as the Taiwanese corp apparently planning to retake over the jammed US netbooks market, by tossing inside some new and advanced mini-laptop devices, hoping to convince all those tech junkie spendthrifts open their empty wallets wide and buy themselves a piece or two. However, with so many cheap and reasonably “specs balanced” alternatives available around, Asus journey, getting to early adopters’ geeky hearts is probably longer and much harder than it may look on the ground. Nevertheless,  according to these latest treasure troves, found in the wild, In Q3 and Q4 of 2009, we’re going to be seeing a brand new 1005HA-P unit, packing a 250GB HDD, paired with Atom N280 processor and offered with optional Windows 7 OS that will set you back for $399, with shipping arrangements, expected to get started somewhere in October. Another “Seashell” like, upgraded version, is the 1005HA-M Atom N270 unit, that runs a Windows 7  Starter Edition flavor and has 250GB HDD storage – all priced at $349. More on that, is the all new 12-inch 1201N Eee PC netbook which will likely include NVIDIA’s latest Ion platform, sitting next to Intel’s Atom N270 processor, 250GB HDD, 2GB RAM, Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11n WiFi connectivity, set and ready to transfer your relays for $499, sharp when it’s up for release in mid-October. And last but not least are these two models, the 1008HA netbooks that somehow dropped out from the list, and the T91 multi-touch tablet that runs a copy of Windows 7 OS as well, while storage capacity features 32GB SSD and price tag stands at $549. We’re already used to names like Asus, Toshiba, LG, Lenovo, Samsung and MSI when speaking about netbooks, but hey, look who’s here – it’s Nokia – who tries to make its first steps within this arena, by distinguishing itself from others with a brand new booklet device that packs some very cool specs, including the usual Atom processor, paired with an SD card reader and integrated Bluetooth connection, but also with some unique and advanced features like built-in A-GPS (works with OVI Maps), 3G/HSPA broadband, SIM card slot, an HDMI output, n module WiFi connectivity and 10.1-inch high-def resolution display, to run your entire video depository, sharply. Surprisingly, the 2.75 pounds (1.25 kg) ultra-portable aluminum chassis is claimed to deliver up to 12 hours of battery usage (impressive!), while colors wise, it has Black, White and Turquoise flavors to offer. Unfortunately, there’s no word on price or availability at this early stage, but we promise to update as soon as any relevant info pops out. Until then, hit the break and watch the videos.

Update1: Looks like Nokia’s new Booklet machine will boast a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530, paired with a 120GB hard drive and integrated 3G connectivity. Price wise, it will set you back for somewhere around $799, but these are just rumors.

Update2: More details about Nokia’s Booklet 3G netbook device start surfacing up above the ground and shedding more light on this cool and expensive Finnish wonder. Apparently, Nokia’s new mini-laptop device is claimed to be shipped with that 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor we’ve been talking about earlier, while battery’s longevity was also confirmed – 12 hours working time, with Windows 7 running the entire operation and SIM card slot, added as well, to handle all 3G communication. Other than that, you get to choose from black, ice (white) and azure (blue) colors, all measured at 0.78-inches thick frame that includes 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch LCD (1,280 x 720 resolution), integrated GPS navigating system paired with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, an SD card reader, three USB 2.0 ports and even an HDMI connection. Release dates are yet to be determined, but with staggering price that stand at €570 ($810), seems like no one will actually be waiting for it outside.

Update3: Nokia’s Italian online store has it now, up for pre-order, but the price is even higher than expected, as the 3G Booklet netbook is listed there for €699 ($1,021 USD), which apparently includes VAT and some other increment. Too bad, and ridiculous if we may add.

Update4: We’re not sure either it’s Greece or some other languages, but the new unboxing video, which can be found right after the break, is definitely one of the first ones that shows Nokia’s new 3G Booklet machine live.

Update5: According to Nokia itself, the Booklet 3G is about to hit O2 Germany in two different flavors, as first one, O2 MyHandy package, is being offered with a one time fee of €249 and a monthly tariff of €20 over the next 24 months, while the second,  O2 wireless deal is €25 a month, including the service price, two years sharp. Not exactly the best bargain around.

Update6: We’re getting there. AT&T is one carrier that will offer Nokia’s highly-priced 3G Booklet for “just” $299 with a 2-year contract and a $60 monthly fee. Someone’s getting affordable, eh?

Google has just thrown a bomb to the IT world, announcing a new Chrom OS platform that suppose to give an open-source solution mainly for netbooks but also for full-size desktop systems, and is expected to go live somewhere on the second half of 2010. Additionally, the new OS from Mountain View, CA is claimed to smoothly run any x86 and ARM chips, while the company firmly says it already teamed up with manufacturers like Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, and Texas Instruments to bring you all the best and comprehensive UI you’d get, so stay tuned for a lot more to come. Here’s what Google’s blog had to say, in a nutshell:

“Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.”

Apparently, Asus wants your kids to get into the portable netbook world from early stages of their life, otherwise how can you explain the new project the company is launching in collaboration with Disney, which suppose to go live, for $350, somewhere this year under codename Netpal. In terms of specs, the netbook itself packs an 8.9-inch display, along with 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive (16GB SSD optional), 802.11 WiFi connection and “Princess Pink” or “Magic Blue” external colors at your choice. Additionally, the kids will get a friendly Disney interface, customizable Disney character themes, and other Disney widget apps to play around, with their parents fully in charge. Remember the Eee PC T91 tablet netbook from Asus? Turns out it will support multi-touch handling with Windows 7 inside, as the Taiwanies officially unveiled full specs details of this cool swiveling machine, which includes an 8.9-inch touchscreen, together with Intel Atom Z520 processor, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD. The cool thing about this one (as noted above) is that Asus will now have a capacitive touchscreen that will comply with multi-touch gestures, once installing Windows 7 inside, and if that’s not enough, the entire system will go for £449 ($684). Well…well…well…What do we have in here? Apparently, Asus is finally having its own 11.6-inch netbook edition, also known as the Eee PC 1101HA – Not to be confused with the Mini 1101 version from HP. And while first day of the show is about to start tomorrow, looks like the guys at Engadget China “suspiciously” managed to spot a booth with this fency jewl, which presumably packs a battery that is claimed to deliver up to 11 hours of work, together with Intel’s Atom Z520 / Z530 processors, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, multi-card reader, three USB2.0 sockets and impressive screen resolution, exceeding the usual numbers and standing at 1,366 x 768.  Design wise, the new 1101HA Eee PC netbook clearly fits the Seashell lineup, but we’ll probably be smarter tomorrow morning, so stay tuned for more details to come.

Update1: And as we speak, Asus already released the Eee PC 1101HGO, which is pretty much the same as the 1101HA version, only with a 3G built in. Check out the image after the break.

Are you fed up with those endless netbook machines around? Make sure you have enough room for one more version to digest, as Asus recently announced the new Eee PC 1000HV Atom N280 edition, which allegedly includes the ordinary specs we’re all familiar with, but also a strong ATI Radeon HD 3450 graphics set, to take care your hefty video duties, such as HD content and gaming treats. Other than AMD’s powerful card (which isn’t that common among this laptop category) this sleeky portable device houses a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 display, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive and a VGA output to hook your new toy into a larger screen. Still no word on price or availability, but we’ll feed you in with the details as soon as they arrive.

Confused? Don’t know what to choose? Allow us to make it even harder on you, as Asus tosses into the market two “Seashell-like” Eee PC netbooks , just hours after going live with the new 1008HA Seashell device in some Western countries. And while the new models target lower-end users, we still hold an opinion they look better than average laptops in this category and pack probably the same specs we’re all familiar with. Getting into details, both 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H include a 10-inch 1024×600 LED display, along with a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, WiFi (no Bluetooth), a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a 6-cell battery that can deliver up to 8 hours workout, in case you’re not using heavy multimedia stuff. So what are the differences? Turns out the 1005HA-H has two more USB 2.0 ports and extra 0.3kg of weight, comparing to the original Seashell, which comes with only a 5-cell battery, but a wider range of outputs and a slimmer design than these two. In terms of availability, both units should be available in Europesomewhere around July, for €299 ($405) and €349 ($473), respectively. Update1: More Eee PC 1005HA details surface up, indicating the new netbook lineup will include the usual Windows XP Home, along with either Atom N270 or N280 processors, a 10.1-inch 1,024 x 600 LED-backlit display, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, three USB 2.0, Ethernet, a multicard reader and up to 10.5 hours – all packed in Black, White, Pink or Blue flavors to choose from.

Apparently, the Eee PC 1000HA is getting a faster alternative, as Asus announces a new 1002HAE version, which adds “E” to the title, but also an aluminum chassis that includes Intel’s 1.6GHz N280 Atom processor, together with a 10-inch 1,024 x 600 backlit display, 1GB of  RAM, 160GB HDD, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connection, 1.3 megapixel webcam and a 3.8-hour Li-Polymer battery – to be exclusively offered in Japan (starting May 16th) for ¥49,800 ($505), either in Dark Blue or a strong Red. No other details to share at this point, but we do hope to see this one in some other parts of the world. stay tuned.

For any of you Asian friends, who “anxiously” waited for yet another netbook to be released,  Asus is claimed to offer a fresh Eee PC version for Japanese users, starting on May 16th and priced at 69,800 yen ($720). The new 1003HAG will presumably pack the usual stuff, such as 10.1-inch display, Atom N280 processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 802.11b/g/n WiFi connection, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and 4.3-hours battery, but also an integrated wireless WAN module that supports NTT DoCoMo’s FOMA network with 7.2Mbps on the downlink. The last, will let you surf the internet from any place, anytime by adding an appropriate 3G sim card inside. However, if that’s not enough to justify the price, Asus will also provide black, white, or pink flavors to choose from.

We’re all familiar with the Eee PC 1000HA netbook device, which includes an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 1.3MP webcam and some other usual ingridiants inside. But if any of you had any complaints about typing issues, turns out there’s someone in Taiwan who’s listening, as Asus has just improved this model by integrating a chiclet keyboard across the chasis and renamed it from EPC1000HA-BLK001X to EPC1000HA-BLK026X, in case you follow industrial tags. Other than that, it’s more or less the same netbook, selling in the same places (Amazon.com, JR.com) for the same price – Black flavor only.

If you had any thoughts on buying a new netbook for traveling usage, but stopped yourself from getting one just because there was no optical drive inside, Asus might have the right solution, as the company has  rolled out the Eee PC 1004DN, which is considered to be the first netbook device, coming with an integrated Super-Multi DVD burner, to handle your CD/DVD tasks without the need for any external accessories.  Other than that, the new machine packs a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor, together with a 10-inch 1024X768 LED backlight display, 1/2GB of DDRII RAM, 1.3 Megapixel Camera, up to 120GB of storage, 802.11n WiFi/Bluetooth connections, a 6-cell battery and high-end chiclet keyboard aboard. But optical drive aside, the 1004DN is expected to house the long awaited Intel GN40 chipset, which includes GMA 4500M graphics core for better video handling. Regretfully, there’s no word on price or availability yet, but you know it’s just a matter of time, so stay around.
