It’s getting hard to follow Sony lately, with all its media players activity, which gets into high gear on recent weeks, especially in Europe, with the E-Series showing up almost� a month ago, and now the S-Series that was listed up on a French retailer website called Materiel’s , featuring the 8GB NWZ-S544 and 16GB NWZ-S545, both equipped with a 2.4-inch QVGA wide-screen display, along with an FM tuner, a mic, built-in stereo speakers, an integrated stand for landscape video watching, and a strong Li-ion battery that can deliver up to 42 hours of audio or 6.5 hours of video, whenever it plays one of the supported formats, including MP3, non-DRM AAC, WMA, H.254, MPEG4, and WMV. In terms of pricing, the S-Series is priced at 129 Euros (about $180) for the 8GB model and 149 Euros ($211) for 16GB flavor. Still no official announcement from Sony, nor any Stateside availability details, so stay tuned for even more to come.

Update1: Apparently Sony America has just gotten official with the S-Series walkmans. The new lineup will include the 8GB NWZ-S544 and 16GB NWZ-S545, both equipped with the aforementioned specs. Mind you, playing music via speakers will make your battery going drained after only 17 hours of audio workout or 5 hours of video playback. The good news are that Sony has plans making them available Stateside (either in black, pink, violet, or red), next month, priced at $110 and $130, respectively. Update3: Sony adds two more version to its all new S series of players. Both walkmans, S640 and S740 boast a 2-inch display, pumped to 720×480 screen resolution via TV-output. And while the first (S640) houses either 8GB or 16GB capacities, the second (S740) has an additional 32GB model to offer aside from the other two. Other than that, both machines are equipped with noise cancellation filters and presumably expected to go out in Japan somewhere this month, with prices ranging from Â¥16,000 ($155 USD) to Â¥25,000 ($278 USD). While anxiously waiting for ION-based netbooks to finally show up in the market, Korean giant, Samsung, has already made it available for a pre-order, with its latest N510 netbook machine, which is expected to go live in Europe somewhere around September, priced at €499 (about $718), packing  an 11.6-inch 1 366 x 768 display, along with Atom N280 processor, 6.5 hours battery NVIDIA’s ION chipset, paired with 9400M graphics, to handle 1080p high-def videos smoothly. Other specs include expandable 1GB of RAM, 1.3 megapixels webcam, 3 x USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR,  3 in 1 card reader slot and  160GB SATA II HDD. Update1: Apparently, Samsung’s desirable N510 ION-based netbook  will make its way Stateside somewhere around September for a whopping price of $599. Sometimes, you have to pay to be one of the first, experiencing top-notch technologies, eh?

We all know how much you’ve been anxiously waiting for Nvidia ION to start showing up inside netbook machines, boosting your HD capabilities to maximum level. Now, add yourself some crazy colors on top of it and get a Point Of View Mobii 230 netbook, packed  with a surprising Atom N230 processor (that mostly appears on nettops), together with a 10.2-inch 1024X600 display, an HDMI output, 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD – All given a European price tag of €349 ($495). And when the company states our 1080p videos will surely run without stuttering and that DirectX 10 plus Shader Model 4.0 support are both included, a few more weeks of anticipation looks like a nerve racking.

If OLED walkmans might exceed your annual PMP budget and seems too pricey acquiring, Sony Europe has officially announced a new video mp3 player, under E-Series category, which suppose to go live from the end of July for an undetermined price that will probably be lower than previous versions. The players themselves are expected to support wide range of formats, while hardware includes an FM tuner, together with five band EQ, a 2-inch (320 x 240) QVGA display, a built-in microphone, 4/8/16GB capacities to choose from and either Black or Red colors to choose from. Update: Apparently, this series will have three models included, the NWZ-E443, E444 and E445 players, packing the aforementioned capacities, respectively.

It’s not that we were totally surprised when Sony’s new gaming console abruptly showed up in a June 09 Qore edition – after all, rumors are floating around for quite some time – Yet, having a first look on a future portable gaming device can definitely rock our geeky heart, which barely stands the endless expectation for the official announcement to take place. And with so many neat features crammed inside, It shouldn’t take long until we snack ourselves a copy or two. But until we’ll manage to fulfill this dream, you all should probably like to know that Sony’s new PSP GO – as for on the go – seems to be offered with a 3.8-inch screen display, along with a built-in Bluetooth connectivity, rounded sleeky slider design and 16GB of internal Flash, expandable via Memory Stick Micro slot. Other essential traits to be noted include a smooth integration with PlayStation 3 gaming console (full network support), thin-and-light body design (43% lighter than PSP-3000), “10-year life-cycle products” guarantee (meaning long term viability) and various new action-game titles like Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid – in plan. With no pretensions to be crowned as a PSP-3000 successor and without determined price-tag given, all that’s left is a vague “This Fall” release announcement, which Sony executives were willing to share. Update1: Sony just announced the PSP Go at the E3 convention, to be available on October 1 in North America and Europe for $249, with a month later release in Japan. Turns out it’s 50% smaller and 40% lighter than Sony’s first PSP-1000 console, as most other specs remain the same, with few surprises at the corner – like a built-in WiFi connection, a new auto-playlist feature which randomly plays your favorite music and called Sense Me, a new video delivery service, and a lack of the UMD drive, implying you’ll be loading your games either through the Memory Stick Micro slot or over PlayStation’s network. Update2: In case you were all wondering what will happen to your old UMD games, once getting the PSP GO, maybe you should know that Sony will be offering for purchasing digital copies of those gamese, but maybe – just maybe – the company will be generous enough to make it even free of charge. Following Toshiba’s 8.9-inch NB100 netbook, we’ve already seen in the past, the company announces a new 10.1 inch version that carries the sequel title of NB200 and packs an Atom N270 processor or Atom N280, in case you’re into the optional specs. Other than that, the new model which suppose to make a European debut somewhere around May starting at $319, packs just about everything you know, like 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD, 0.3 megapixels webcam, integrated 802.11 b/g WiFi/Bluetooth connections and three USB ports – all expected to work longer than usual, thanks to the claimed 9 hours battery Toshiba has added to each of the flavors you get to choose from (Black, White, Brown or Pink).

Medion Akoya bursts out into the overcrowded netbook world with two new devices, the E1211 and E1215, both equipped with a 10-inch display, Intel Atom processor, Bluetooth, WiFi, Windows XP Home Edition, built-in webcam an Black or White flavors. However, while the E1211 sports the usual specs, its brother, the E1215 boasts an integrated UMTS, so you can easily use your 3G connectivity to log into your favorite websites wherever you are. Prices should be in the range of €400-500, as these two are expected to hit some European retailers like Aldi, Hema, Action, Gamma or Karwei this month.

To be more accurate, those two have just popped up at Acer’s page in Germany, both featuring a 10.1-inch WSVGA display along with Intel’s 945GSE chipset, 160GB HDD, up to 2GB of RAM, WiFi, ethernet, built-in webcam and a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor or 1.68GHz N280 CPU together with WWAN connectivity, in case you’re getting the upgraded version. So what’s the difference between the two? The 531 is only 1-inch thick, which makes it thinner and sleeker than the first one, and while there are no details about a Stateside release, European residents will have to shell out �379 ($502) for the D250 and �399 ($529) for the 531 flavor. Update5: Another D250 version is up officially, as Acer releases the dual boot Windows 7 / Android netbook edition, flavored with a 10.1-inch WSVGA screen, Atom N280 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a six-cell battery and these two operating systems sitting next to each other side-by-side. To get it, you’ll have to pay a reasonable price of $349.99 – not bad at all.

Like there’s no recession, Philips launches two new GoGear PMPs for the European market, as the GoGear Ariaz sports a 2-inch display, together with a built-in mic, an FM tuner, and 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of storage capacities at your choice. Additionally, it has four-pad buttons to help you navigate through the menus, while some other clickable buttons are considered to be working with Touch technology. The GoGear Opus, from the other side, is the bigger between the two, boasting a 2.8-inch display, a mic, Bluetooth, an FM tuner with RDS technology, 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB capacities to choose from and integrated BBC iPlayer support. Still no word when exactly these two are about to be released (probably somewhere in April), but getting them, you’ll have to shell out €79 ($100) or €179 ($230) respectively.

Update: Moments before a Stateside release, Philips releases more info, as the Aria goes for $80 (8GB) or $100 (16GB), while the Opus will be available for $100 (8GB) and a 16GB version in plans. The ViBE, which carries a 1.5-inch display will be yours for either $50 (4GB) or $60 (8GB).

If the Mini 1000 netbook wasn’t enough, HP has launched the Compaq Mini 700 to the European market, packing a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM, a pair of Altec Lansing speakers, GMA 950 graphics card, built-in webcam/microphone, HSPDA and the usual USB2.0 ports, Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. There are no differences between the two versions, although the “700″ in the second model could easily imply for a 7″ display, but it’s not, the Compaq Mini comes with a 10.2-inch (1204 x 600) screen size, not to mention a Windows XP onboard. Price wise, the 700 version is more expensive, as you will have to spend £399 ($594) in order to get one. Clearly, it won’t carry basic specs. Checkout the unboxing video after the break.

The new BenQ S6 Mobile Internet Device makes a debut right on time, via Italian carrier TIM, with a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen and a powerful 800MHz Atom MID processor, to handle the 3G 7.2Mbps HSDPA. It features a 2GB SSD drive, 512MB of RAM, a microSD card slot, Bluetooth 2.0 and WiFi connectivity, adorned in a small 159 x 89 x 22mm, 330gm package. To get this amazing Linux Midinux-based device, you’ll have to shell out €429 ($626), which means, giving up your next laptop procurement. Still, it looks like a top-notch portable machine with endless capabilities, the kind we’d like to see in our hands.

ARRRRGH…this is getting way overcrowded, but who cares, when there’s a competition around and the joiner is Toshiba, that officially Introduces its latest NB100 netbook, to be released in October, with the expected Atom N270 processor and the 8.9-inch, 1024 x 600 display. You can also find either Ubuntu or Windows XP onboard, together with 1GB of RAM, built-in WiFi, 120GB storage capacity and 3 covering colors to choose from, including Champagne Gold, Bright Silver or Cosmic Black. As mentioned, it’s going to make a debut across Europe next month for £260 ($470).

Cowon announces some new products to be officially released next week, during IFA 2008 show at Berlin. One of the most interesting devices within the new lineup is the S9, a nice curved PMP with a 3.3-inch 16M colors capacitive AMOLED  touchscreen (480 x 272) and a strong 500MHz DualCore processor. It packs a T-DMB television tuner for Korean market, an FM tuner, a bluetooth connectivity, TV output and even a G-Sensor accelerometer. Still, no info about storage capacities or codecs support, but you can trust Cowon to be generous as usual. Battery life, on the other hand, was confirmed and will deliver up to 40 hours of continuous music. Stay tuned for more to come later this week.

Update: The S9 will be available next month with 8GB or 16GB storage capacities, while a 32GB version will hit later on. As mentioned, it will support many codecs, including MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, WAV audio formats and MPEG-4 SP, WMV9 SP, H.264 BP video formats.

After making a huge impact in the US and plenty of noise in countries like Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and France, the iPhone is about to arrive to 10 more places, including Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey, as Vodafone has signed an exclusive agreement with Apple to distribute the most desired handset to its customers in the aforementioned countries, later this year – Lucky them.

It seems LG wants to have its own iPod Touch killer device, but we’re not so sure it’s going to work for them. The company introduces the new T80 PMP in Europe, coming with a 3-inch 260k colors touchscreen (429 x 240) and 4GB storage capacity. This player packs a DMB-TV tuner (TNT) , a built-in microphone, an FM tuner, and USB 2.0 interface. It is compatible with formats like MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, ASF, JPEG, TXT, MPEG and equipped with battery that plays 40 hours of audio, 5.5 hours of video and 2hours of TV. Remember the Xbox 360 limited-edition version, bundled with Grand Theft Auto IV? Turns out Sony has the same thing, as a 40GB PS3 console, packed with the desired game, has popped up in a Swedish retailer’s website, offering a nice designed GTA IV case along with all the required accessories. Price is extremely high, since the Scandinavian market is very expensive, but even though, 4,499 SEK ($755) won’t deter fanatic gamers from purchasing it. No details when this special edition is set to be released in the US, but be sure it will, for a much cheaper price.

Sony unveils the A-series media players lineup with a 2.4-inch LCD display (320 × 240) and a Bluetooth2.0 A2DP connectivity, delivering wireless music to your bluetooth headset/speakers. The new PMPs feature 8GB (NW-A820) or 16GB (NW-A829) storage size, support MP3, AAC, ATRAC Advanced Lossless, DRM WMA, linear PCM audio formats, and MPEG4, AVHC, H.264 video formats. The battery is very strong, providing 36 hours of music and 10 hours of video. Dimensions are 93.9 × 51 x 9.3mm, 59gm. An optional VRC-NW10 dock, enabling scheduled TV/Radio recording, will be available during this year. All players will be equipped with a 13.5mm EX headset and we expect to see them retailed in Japan around March and a month later in Europe. The NW-A820 is priced at $260, the NW-A829 at $353 and the optional cradle at $186. You will be able to choose between black, silver, pink and gold colors.

Many people were disappointed after they were proven wrong, expecting for a third generation iPhone version to be launched in Europe last month. Instead, they received the same 2.5G version, as they could find in the US already. Well, now they can raise a smile, due to floating rumors stating that a 3G iPhone version will be available next year.

It seems that Apple had some apprehensions releasing a 3G iPhone, that would suffer from a drained battery and won’t be able to compete with the advanced European Cellular market. Although there is no official statement, we hear that Apple might overcome the battery problems, and with the aspirations to get a foothold in Europe, it is reasonable to see an updated version of the iPhone, coming out soon…
