It’s up to you to decide how to call MSI’s new dual-screen device, whether it’s a netbook, a smartbook, an E-Reader, a tablet, a MID, a courier, you name it, it’s your call – but one thing’s for sure – you want it and so do we! It’s still a prototype and no one can really tell when or where it would get a “Go”. It packs dual 10-inch displays (one on each side), both include capacitive multitouch screens, with pretty fast respond. There’s no official name for this one at the moment, but it runs a Windows 7 Home Premium platform with all the pomp and innards involved, like a virtual keyboard control, an ebook reader, 1.86 GHz Atom Z540 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD storage and finally, two USB ports. It looks great, it sports a 10-inch capacitive display, runs a powerful Tegra 2 chipset and called Harmony. That’s pretty much what we know about MSI’s new Android tablet that recently showed up at the CES show in Vegas. The platform is actually an Android 2.1 and the slate is literally tagged as an E-book machine. It has both WiFi and 3G WWAN connectivity included, and apparently, wants to be “your office to go” solution. Check out the videos we’ve added half past the break.

For a start, we’d like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the readers who washed themselves in the Pine Trail rain we’ve been pouring over their heads lately. At this point, it’s just hard to ignore the flow of devices that sprout out with Intel’s new platform planted deep in their bowels – and looking at the growing list, it ain’t going to stop. And if you’ve been asking yourself where exactly is MSI in that Atom N450 flood, you’re only few words from getting the dope – as the Chinese corp announces its decent representant, a 10.1-inch Wind U160 netbook, that carries an MSI chop. It suppose to make a debut at the CES, in January, with that same Pine View processor we just mentioned and a good looking lid on top – I mean seriously, where did they take that stunning hinge from, Sony Vaio or what? In any case, the company claims for a 10 hours battery and a $350 starting price, when this thing goes live – so lets hope.

MSI is about to enlarge its growing HD PMPs lineup, proudly releasing the MT-V887, which apparently follows the company’s high-def trend, packing a Rockchip RK2728B chipset that can broadcast H.264 and 720p videos, once get pumped on a tele, via composite/component outputs, already built into the chassis. However, those who prefer watching through the integrated 4.3 inch display, will have to settle with merely 480 x 272 screen resolution, which practically downgrades their view quality to usual standards and make it look less sharp, less crisp than they really are. Besides that, for an undetermined price/availability, this Chinese media player will also offer either 4GB or 8GB capacities at your choice, together with a text reader, a multi-language interface, a built-in mic, and slick robust frame, crammed with silver or black colors. Great news from Moblin Linux direction, as Intel’s free open-sourced platform will apparently receive a significant corroboration from Taiwanese corp Acer, who recently pledged on a computex conference to widely implement this phenomenal OS inside its desktop computers, laptop devices and Aspire One netbook machines, starting this year. And while anxiously waiting for self interaction, various editions of Moblin 2.0, including Suse, Xandros, Linpus, Red Flag, and Ubuntu were flauntingly demoed in that same press gathering, running on different portable netbook brands from HP, Asustek, MSI, and Hasee Computer, impressively raising our impatiemt feelings. But needless to say we’re constantly following, so just stay in touch for future updatings.

We’ve recently seen a lot of action coming from MSI’s direction, specially within the netbooks world. However, the company proves to have myriad of values to share with, as a new PMP series has been announced in China, featuring five different platforms to choose from. Starting from the basic, the MV622, which will cost you only 198 yuan (US $29), features a 2.4-inch display, 2GB of internal storage and three flavors to be picked. the second one is the MV651, which boasts a 3-inch 400 x 240 screen, together with FM tuner, 4GB of storage and a TV-output, all priced at 299 yuan ($44). The third, MV652, offers either 4GB ($51) or 8GB ($58) capacities, while seems to be the only kid in the block which has an integrated touchscreen inside, as the fourth version, MV881 sports a 4.3-inch display (without a touchscreen) along with the same traits you get inside the previous device, for $58 (4GB) or $73 (8GB). Last but not least, is the MV882 that comes with an S-video output and 720P video support for high-def interaction, priced at merely $58 (8GB). Naturally, you get to play most of the common formats (available in the market) in all units and some can also handle your e-book files, still we can’t be sure those new cheap PMPs will ever find a place on Western shelves.

If the U100 wasn’t enough, MSI tosses another netbook to the lineup, this time with a 1.66GHz Atom N280 processor inside, replacing the common N270 that we’re all familiar with. Other than that, the new Wind U100 PLUS packs a 10-inch 1,024 x 600 display, 160GB hard drive, up to 2GB of RAM, 945GMS chipset, three USB 2.0 sockets, VGA output, 4-in-1 multicard reader, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, a 1.3 megapixel webcam and a 3-cell battery (optional 6-cell). But that’s not all folks – we’re just getting to the most interesting part of this revelation, as MSI vigorously states that users will be able to achieve up to 7 hours of continuous work (!) with the standard 3-cell battery, which means up to 14 hours of work if you choose to integrate the 6-cell alternative (?). Obviously, it should be tested in the coming weeks before the winner is announced, and we sure hope to bring you the results, together with some fresh details about price and availability.

MSI to officially launch its latest colorful U123 netbook series, including three different models to represent this lineup, starting with the very basic U123 version, which packs a 10.2-inch display, together with a 1.66GHz Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM and some other usual specs. Heading forward to the second version, the U123H, which comes with a 3.5G (HSDPA) WWAN module add-on, and finally the third one, the U123T that houses an integrated TV tuner, but doesn’t support 3.5G capabilities like previous device. Still no word on price or availability, but be sure we’ll bring them to you the moment they go on public.
Update1: Looks like the Wind U123 series is officially available for pre-order in some US retailers (AKA: Amazon, Newegg, J&R), offered either in Blue or Red flavors, with prices starting from $350 and up to $380.

MSI is known for its white netbook devices all over the world, but with the new gray U120 edition, which packs the same specs as already-exist white/black Wind U120 versions, it seems the company is trying to approach the business sector and the high-end markets. However, color changing alone won’t do the job, and without any hardware boosting MSI will continue to sell netbooks for private tech avids. Anyway, the new flavor is up for sale on Amazon for $349.99.

MSI keeps delivering the goods, as the company officially launched the U115 netbook that we’ve already been talking about recently. The U115 Hybrid packs both SSD and HDD drives in one place and can handle them simultaneously, when the initial use goes with the SSD mode while the HDD drive stands mainly for storage, in order to save more battery power and increase the OS speed. In addition, it has a 10-inch 1024 x 600 display, 1.60GHz Intel Atom processo, a 2MP webcam, 4-in-1 card reader, up to 2GB of RAM, WiFi/Bluetooth connection and various storage combinations, including 8GB SSD / 80GB HDD, 16GB SSD / 120GB HDD, or 32GB SSD / 160GB HDD. Still, no word on price or availability but be sure they will be here shortly.

If you’ve been thinking on getting yourself a portable MSI Wind netbook, mind you there’s a new U100 colors series, coming out in Japan on December 13th, joining the black or white already existing versions. The latest 10.2-inch lineup features the same 1.6MHz Atom processor with 160GB hard drive, 6 cell battery, 1GB of RAM, 1.3MP camera, 4-in-1 card reader, WiFi/Bluetooth connections and Windows XP onboard, but also Romantic Pink, Black Empire or stylish White Angel hues to light up your working vicinity, instead of those regular tedious patterns. As usual, Japanese prices are overrated, so be prepared to spend 56,800 Yens ($610) for one of these.

MSI can be very pleased with recent global recognition they gain, thanks to the 10-inch U100 netbook, that catches a lot of attention within the ultra-mini-portable category, together with Asus, Acer and Dell. But the fierce competition doesn’t let them rest on their laurels, and the company battles to stay up with technology, in order to preserve their reputation. Thereupon, we get a chance to see some early Wind U120 press shots, two months before the estimated launch date, on December, and all we can say is that we’re very pleased with the results. Truth to tell, the U120 has exactly the same looks that its U100 sibling demonstrates, but the real difference is from the inside, as the Wind 2 packs either 20GB / 40GB SSD or 120GB HDD, along with 802.11n WiFi and built-in 3.5G WWAN (HSDPA), that lets you use a SIM card to surf the internet from any place, without the need for a hotspot. To make you even more happy, this top-notch device will be offered under $600, so hold your breath until December comes.
Update1: DigiTimes says the U120 should be available in November for $552, with that 3.5G WWAN.
Update2: It is up for sale with a reasonable $469.99 price tag.

Truth to tell, the new 8.9-inch ( 1,024 x 600) netbook version, first showed up back in June at the Computex show, but after having an enormous success with the 10-inch U100 model, Msi has finally decided to officially release the Wind U90, to be shipped with an Intel Atom N270 processor, 512MB or 1GB of RAM and 80GB storage capacity. In addition, the U90 will have a windows XP system, a built-in 1.3M camera, a microphone, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity, 2 channels stereo speakers, VGA output and 3-cell battery (6-cell battery is optional). Still, no word on price or availability, but be sure this 2.2 lbs lappy will be here very soon.
Update1: turns out MSI has included the SUSE Linux OS within the new model, which will be available at the end of September for 339 Euro. The rest of the specs remain the same, including the keyboard size.
Update2: It seems like MSI is ready to deliver the Wind netbooks with a 6-cell battery onboard, offering longer battery life, for merely $550.

LG has decided to jump into the netbooks trend, introducing the X110 UMPC at the IFA 2008 in Berlin, coming up with almost an identical MSI Wind design, but also with some pretty neat features, including built-in 3G HSPDA and GPS capabilities (optional) that can make our internet life much easier when it comes to out-of-wifi places. In addition, the new X110 packs a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 8.9-inch display (1024×600), 120GB storage capacity (optional 6GB SSD), WLAN 802.11 b/g, 1GB of RAM and more. It runs Windows XP operating system and expected to be released in Europe at the end of September for €399 up to €499 ($590 up to $740), not so cheap prices, compared to the competitors, but with a top-notch technology.

After the Asus Eee PC, MSI Wind and the HP 2133, there’s a new kid on the mini-laptop block, as Michael Dell has snappily revealed the new Dell Mini Inspiron at the All Things Digital conference. This sub-$500 lappy presumably features an 8.9-inch screen, a card reader, three USB ports, Ethernet connection, a VGA output, a built-in webcam and many more. We can’t be sure if it is equipped with an Atom-based processor but the Mini Inspiron is expected to run either Windows XP Home or Ubuntu Linux OS. As part of the new ultra-mini-laptop trend, ignited by Asus tremendous success, MSI has released its own Eee PC notebook version, known as MSI Wind. The new Wind runs Windows XP operation system and equipped with a 10-inch LED backlit display (1,024 x 600). In addition, the laptop features Intel atom 1.6 GHz processor, 80GB storage capacity, full keyboard, built in webcam, 3 in 1 card reader, and more. It has a nice sleeky whitish design and weights 1.2 kg. To get one of those, you will have to pull out of your wallet $470 up to $1,099, depends on the specs.
