It’s up to you to decide how to call MSI’s new dual-screen device, whether it’s a netbook, a smartbook, an E-Reader, a tablet, a MID, a courier, you name it, it’s your call – but one thing’s for sure – you want it and so do we! It’s still a prototype and no one can really tell when or where it would get a “Go”. It packs dual 10-inch displays (one on each side), both include capacitive multitouch screens, with pretty fast respond. There’s no official name for this one at the moment, but it runs a Windows 7 Home Premium platform with all the pomp and innards involved, like a virtual keyboard control, an ebook reader, 1.86 GHz Atom Z540 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB SSD storage and finally, two USB ports. You will hear about it a lot more, but until then, hit the break and watch the show.

Coby is one of the very few companies to introduce a new media player at the CES 2010 show in Vegas. They had one back in last year’s show and the have another, this year. The latest, which looks quiet impressive and resembles Creative Zii, is Coby’s MP837 player that packs a 3-inch touchscreen (with a very responsive display), along a revamped interface, 22-hour battery life, slick black body and wide range of formats support, including OGG, FLV, H.264 and Xvid. No word about price or availability at this point, but engadget has a video that proves our word. Check it out after the jump.

It’s really hard to figure out what exactly are you holding in your hand these days, whether it’s a media player or maybe a phone, smartphone, “superphone”, etc. And Viliv wasn’t making it easy on us either, in that matter. Therefor we were a bit in the dark when first read about the company’s P3 PMP device. Now we know, it’s a multimedia player, back then we weren’t sure, but that’s why you have the CES show to straight things up, isn’t it?  And although we still can’t tell when this thing goes upon sale and how much will it cost, we do know it sports a 3.7-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED display, paired with a strong 800MHz Cortex A8 processor and storage up to 32GB. The 1.7mm thin device also offers a microSD slot expansion at the bottom, next to a 720p TV-output, and optional T-DMB and DAB tuners within. The model that was spotted in Viliv’s booth included an Android platform but it would run a Windows CE dual-boot OS as well. Until then, stay tuned. Hands-on video right after the break.

It looks great, it sports a 10-inch capacitive display, runs a powerful Tegra 2 chipset and called Harmony. That’s pretty much what we  know about MSI’s new Android tablet that recently showed up at the CES show in Vegas. The platform is actually an Android 2.1 and the slate is literally tagged as an E-book machine.  It has both WiFi and 3G WWAN connectivity included, and apparently, wants to be “your office to go” solution.  Check out the videos we’ve added half past the break.

Lenovo has really given a thought lately to what bring us geeks out and make us extremely excited whenever approaching new gadgets. And clearly, the company has spent a lot of time and budgets when it first came up with the idea of creating a product that combines a laptop and a tablet under one single hood. Well, the product is now officially out and youm can call it IdeaPad U1 Hybrid. It looks both innovative and stylish at the same time, and packs a 11.6-inch laptop with a detachable multitouch display that turns the screen into a nice portable tablet, running Lenovo’s proprietary Skylight Linux platform and powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, paired with a 16GB SSD and that nice looking multitouch slate. The entire pack, including the tablet and the laptop together, weighs only 3.8 pound and boasts a CULV Intel Core 2 Duo processor , lining up with a chicklet-style keyboard, a 128GB SSD, a big integrated touchpad and Windows 7 Premium preloaded onboard. Nothing much to share at this point, but Dell has revealed a new slate/tablet device at its keynote speech at CES in Vegas. Designed like a business smartphone, and some would say it is one considering the SIM slot it boasts, the new Reddish device  includes an Android platform preloaded inside, and a 5-inch touchscreen on top. There’s also an integrated 5MP camera at the back and three clickable buttons on the right – Home, Back and (maybe) apps. Furthermore, up the hill, it houses three additional buttons which looks like ON/OFF, camera and volume support. We’ve also spotted a built-in mic and Bluetooth, but that’s all we have for now.

Update1: engadget guys were lucky to sit around the table with Dell’s representative who was kind enough to give a quick tour and show them Dell’s new mysterious slate in a snap. From first impression we’re guessing it’s an Android 1.6 platform that runs inside, but quiet positive there’s a nice numpad add-on included in the keyboard and a tiny face camera right on front. We’re not sure whether it’d be called Mini 5 or codename Streak, but color us impressed from the way it performed. Vid and thumbs, after the break.

Update2: Turns out it’s a 5-inch mid, boasting 800 x 480 capacitive touchscreen,along integrated WiFi and 3G WWAN connectivity. It runs Android 2.0 (Eclair) instead of that 1.6 flavor and seems to endure a dual-LED flash 5mp camera behind and a 1,300mAh battery within. Update3: The Tinhte team has taken Dell’s Android-based Mini 5 slate/mid to a teardown session, and guess what they’ve found under the hood – a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, two microSD slots, integrated SIM card with 3G radio and a 1,530mAh battery, stronger than expected. Lenovo definitely shows a lot of creativity at this year’s CES show in Vegas. And just in case you were thinking the Chinese would likely settle with their latest good-looking Skylight, think twice, because the way it looks, there’s a lot more down in their sleeves. Hence the first one in this session, is the IdeaPad S10-3 which Lenovo completely revamped and stuffed inside a beautiful 10-inch screen, paired with an Atom N470 CPU, nice chicklet-style keys, a 3-cell battery (optional 6-cell) and premium chassis design that weighs only 2.4 pounds and attractively priced at $399, or 20 bucks less at Amazon’s online store. The second, and more interesting between these two, is the IdeaPad S10-3t tablet netbook which packs a stunning 10-inch swivel screen that boasts a Natural Touch interface plus a highly responsive accelerometer. It would cost you a bit higher, $499 to be accurate, but you will also receive Windows 7 Home Premium and 6-cell Lithium-ion battery, both bundled in the pack. Ladies and gentlemen, this is it! HP’s long awaited tablet officially announced. It actually came up during Steve Ballmer’s CES keynote event and immediately became “hot”, but this way or another, it’s way too early and we’re still missing a lot. And even though this is just a prototype slate and we are few months away from seeing it out, we’re more than sure this cool multi-touch gadget is something ‘ya all would probably want. It runs Windows 7 to handle it and a Kindle reader software, but as we’ve seen from Microsoft’s CEO, you can even play with it Frogger. There’s more of it few scrolls after, including a mysterious video teaser and an image of Ballmer. Stay tuned.

Remember the Mini 5101 that HP released 6 months ago to target high-end customers with business related aspirations? Turns out it’s not alone – as a matter of fact it has a new twin brother that carries the title Mini 5102. The latest, which belongs to the growing Pine Trail family, packs inside an Atom N450 processor along a 10-inch display, offered with a WSVGA or WXGA panels. But as a premium portable device, one can guess it boasts a lot more than usual. What else is new? We’re talking about a Broadcom HD video accelerator, added to the pile, while keyboard is at 95% from the regular one. Besides that you can toss inside any possible operating system available, either it’s FreeDOS, SUSE Linux, Windows XP or Windows 7 Starter/Premium editions. Battery wise, you can choose between 4-cell and 6-cell flavors, but the most attractive alternative, marked as optional, is that super cool capacitive (multitouch) touchscreen which turns that netbook into a tablet (well, not exactly, but you know what I mean). It ain’t going to be cheap, boys and girls, but we still can;t tell how much and when. PR words added after the break.

Update1: Apparently, the Mini 5102 cover is made out of a stunning brushed aluminum plate and the chassis hides an optional handle for ‘A-grades’ students. Checkout the hands-on video the good people at engadget just shared.

Lenovo strikes with some interesting stuff at this early stage of the year. The latest, is the company’s stunning ARM-based smartbook, called Skylight. It’s a 10.1-inch 1,280 x 720 display device that offers a new stylish approach that we haven’t seen out there before. For this reason, it’s priced above the average at $499, but offers nice specs lineup which includes a fast 1GHz ARM Snapdragon processor, together with 20GB of flash storage, 2GB of cloud storage, plus an 8GB miniSD card. Furthermore, you get a 1.3 megapixel camera, 2 X USB ports, WiFi, 3G connections and battery with up to 10 hours of continuous work time. The rounded clamshell design looks stunning and the weight is just under 2 pounds, which grants a more convenient portability to this new Skylight machine. According to Lenovo, shipping suppose to begin somewhere around April, as buyers will enjoy a variant of 18 widgets and web apps, already preloaded inside, amongst you’ll find Facebook, Twitter, Gmail Youtube and more. So Google has finally launched the most anticipated Nexus One, and if you happen to live in one of the following 4 countries – the US, UK, Singapore or Hong Kong – you can get it right away from Google’s website, priced at $529.99 without a contract or merely $179 including a T-Mobile two year plan (in the US). Other people will have to wait at least until Spring 2010, when it believes that Google will be adding more countries to its smartphone lineup. The phone itself is an HTC brand, coming with a 3.7-inch 800×480 AMOLED display, which regretfully doesn’t support multi-touch at the moment, although Google says it’s not an hardware issue but a software tweak and it’d consider adding screen gestures capabilities in the future. Besides that, you get a fast 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor,paired with a 5 megapixels camera including an integrated LED flash that can shoot MPEG-4 video and have it uploaded directly to Youtube. Additionally, this 11.5mm thick device has a built-in compass, GPS, WiFi, A2DP stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, a multicolored LED under the trackball, an accelerometer for landscape view and two mics, positioned on front, for complete noise cancellation. It runs all common frequencies and compatible with HSDPA 7.2Mbps, UMTS Band 1/4/8 (2100/AWS/900), HSUPA 2Mbps and of course, GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). The 1400mAH battery inside is claimed to provide 5 hours of 3G browsing and 7 hours of 3G talk time, while storage wise, you receive only 512MB of internal flash along with a 4GB micro SD card, expandable up to 32GB. Moving forward with the details, the Nexus One packs Google’s “latest greatest” Android 2.1 platform – also known as Eclair – which crams some nifty stuff inside, like the voice recognition feature that works throughout the entire UI and activates almost any feature in the phone. That way, you can use your voice to write SMS messages and notes (speech-to-text), or tell the Google Earth search engine where should it go. Other than that, Google has implemented a Cooliris technology into the Nexus One gallery app, so you get 3D visualization whenever looking at images in landscape mode. It has a lot of widgets to offer, such as weather and news RSS, and the smartphone’s homescreen customization is interactive and houses 5 panels to store your apps and shortcuts. Stay tuned. Update1: And looks like Adobe is now jumping on Google’s bandwagon by demoing its Flash 10.1 beta on a Nexus One superphone. Check it out after the break.

Update2: Well, what do you know, the European version of Nexus One, apparently supports multitouch capabilities out-of-the-box, while US devices don’t. We’re not so sure why, but as someone suggested, the trigger for the abyssal differences might be the fact that Apple has a US Patent on multitouch which doesn’t apply on European countries. Maybe. Google says it’s carefully reviewing this issue at the moment.

Update3: Different from what has been reported, Google’s Nexus One seems to be incompatible with “n” draft wireless connectivityand official specs state it supports only 802.11b/g WiFi frequencies. We’ll have more about this soon.

It’s been a while since we last heard from Samsung anything about new media players coming out. But hey, CES 2010 is only two days ahead and that’s probably the best time to announce the release of new products. Actually, there are two: the first, an 8GB device which answers the name MyFit and suppose to target fitness junkies with integrated sensors that detect fat and stress, along a built-in accelerometer and a slew of apps to ensure your health is well (including pedometer and My Coach). The second, which boasts 16GB of internal storage is called Ice Touch, packs 2-inch AMOLED screen and a body, made of tempered glass. It supports wide range of multimedia formats, including HD content and lossless audio and runs a brand of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI called Sweep. Price and availability for both players are yet to be determined.

Korean company Viliv, that already proved us it can release great MIDs and UMPCs, jumps on the PMP bandwagon with the latest HD5 which suppose to make an official appearance at CES 2010 in just few days. Until then, from the sparse details we found, it seems the HD5 player will pack a 5-inch touchscreen display (800 x 480 resolution), hiding underneath 8, 16, or 32GB of storage, SDHC expansion, a DMB/DAB tuner and an HDMI port that can upscale your video library up to 1080p. This slick 13mm device will presumably run Windows CE inside, but don’t count on it at this point. Stay tuned.

For a start, we’d like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the readers who washed themselves in the Pine Trail rain we’ve been pouring over their heads lately. At this point, it’s just hard to ignore the flow of devices that sprout out with Intel’s new platform planted deep in their bowels – and looking at the growing list, it ain’t going to stop. And if you’ve been asking yourself where exactly is MSI in that Atom N450 flood, you’re only few words from getting the dope – as the Chinese corp announces its decent representant, a 10.1-inch Wind U160 netbook, that carries an MSI chop. It suppose to make a debut at the CES, in January, with that same Pine View processor we just mentioned and a good looking lid on top – I mean seriously, where did they take that stunning hinge from, Sony Vaio or what? In any case, the company claims for a 10 hours battery and a $350 starting price, when this thing goes live – so lets hope.

Chinese corp RAmos seems to be releasing HD players on a monthly bases – our feeling only – and those of you who’ve been thinking it would slow down a bit, should think again, as the company rolls out yet another one, the T11TE, priced at $177.45 and houses a 5-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, paired with microSD slot expansion, 16GB of flash storage, dual 3.5mm jacks(?) and of course, a 1080P HDMI output, to pump high-def videos on your tele – although it runs other common formats such as DAT, MPG, MPEG,VOB, MP4, MOV, AVI, DVD Video, ASF, WMV, MKV, TS, RM,and RMVB. Other than that, this half-inch thick PMP will record voices, thanks to its built-in mic or help you share your music around, with those integrated stereo speakers it boasts. No word whether it would make its way Stateside or not, surely it won’t keep that “new player” title for long.

Still clashing off court (and soon probably on court) with TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington about their former mutual Crunchpad adventure, which apparently imploded few days ago, Fusion Garage ostentatiously sends a “business as usual” message to whom it may concern,with its yesterday’s official introduction of the JooJoo ( means “magic”), a 12.1-inch tablet which suppose to be released instead of the Crunchpad and presumably to include a capacitive 12.1-inch touchscreen, bounded by a clean slick frame that hides underneath a 4GB SSD, together with a WiFi, an accelerometer, a 5 hours battery, a video adapter with “enough graphic power to deliver full HD video” and various ports relay on both sides. The 2.4 pounds grayish machine suppose to run a UNIX-based OS that loads up in 9 seconds, while mother company, Fusion, is claimed to start accepting  pre-orders on December 11 – three days from now – carrying a price tag of $499. Update2: The JooJoo is now available for pre-orders at $499, as Fusion Garage adds a $30 dock (the one in the picture) to its accessories lineup. Specs wise, we get to hear it’d probably house either Intel’s Atom Z530 or GMA500 processors, consider that 1080p video support the tablet smoothly plays. Shipping is set to begin “within 8-10 weeks”, although we have our doubts, now that Arrington’s legal action against FusionGarage shifts to Federal court.

Update3: And, as expected, Michael Arrington sues Fusion Garage over the JooJoo-Crunchpad situation, alleging false advertising, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of business ideas, fraud, and unlawful business practices. Asus is on a roll, brings Nvidia ION capabilities into its latest Eee Box EB1501 nettop, along a slim attractive design and a very powerful lineup, which apparently includes (besides NVIDIA’s Ion chipset) an Intel Atom 330 dual-core processor, together with 2GB of RAM (expandable up to 4GB), 250GB of storage capacity, an integrated DVD burner, Wifi, and various usable ports like VGA and HDMI outputs, 6 X USB hubs, SDHC card reader, ethernet, eSata and headphone/microphone jacks, placed on front. Windows 7 OS suppose to handle the entire platform when it loads up, while accessories wise, you get a nice rounded metal base, paired with a compact USB keyboard and a basic wired optical mouse – all packed in the bundle – running for a starting price of €399 (about $580), in Europe. Tablets, Androids, portable devices, we keep hearing them a lot, everywhere we go, in/off cyber world. The latest, is from Camagni, a Taiwanese group that brings us the Webstation, an Android-based tablet device which sports a 7-inch 800 x 480 glass touchscreen, paired with a 624MHz Marvell PXA303 processor, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of internal storage, a microSD card slot (expandable up to 8GB capacity) and a nice slick whitish frame, that comfortably fits the palm of your hand. Communication wise, you’ll find the Webstation equipped up to date with 3G WWAN, 802.11b/g WiFi and even a GPS navigation system, that was tucked in order to guide your way out there. Price suppose to stand at $399 in Japan while availability dates are still a mystery – although we do know – that basic white flavor is not alone and Pink or Black hues will hit the shelves as well. Update1: Turns out you can pre-order the Webstation Android tablet right now from Camagni’s online store, equipped with that 7-inch glass touchscreen, a 624MHz Marvell PXA303 and 256MB of flash storage, for $389 in case you’re one of those “early birds” or $399 if you decide to do a thorough market research before getting now.

Android is the key word in here, no doubt, but the tablet issue is no less important, and as you can see, we see a lot of them lately, better with an Android OS loaded onboard (it’s good for the marketing). And Japanese company, Hikari, is no different in that scene, realizing it should implement Google’s magical platform with its new iFrame tablet, which boasts (besides that Android power) a 7-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen display (that can be used as a photo frame) along with an SD slot expansion, WiFi connection, a built in speaker and multiple widgets like weather, calendar, news and recipes on top. Price range is claimed to be at $220 and $330 when this thing comes out in 2010. Until then, you can watch the video after the break.

Viewsonic officially gets into the portable HD-compatible world, announcing the VPD400 MovieBook, a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 media player, supporting 720p video files along other common media formats, including AVI, RM/RMVB, FLV, MP4, MOV, PMP, MPG, VOD, DAT, H.264, H.263 and MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, APE, OGG for audio. Other than that, this stylish all-in-one device – sized only 113mm x 74.5mm x 13.8mm – sports 8GB of internal memory, together with a micro SD slot expansion and AV Output for full sized TV entertainment. Battery is set to work 12 hours of audio playback and six if you’re watching a video. that, as a fact, would give you the benefit of watching HD movies, view photos and read any digital book whenever on the go. Too bad it lacks a WiFi connection, but color wise you get to choose out of Black, White or Pink. No price or availability details available at this point.
