Is Microsoft Planning To Open Unique Retail Stores?

Headstrong rumors claiming that Microsoft considers the opening of unique retail stores that will conspicuously market its own products. There is no doubt that Microsoft managers jealously squint at Apple’s success, thinking they can do the same, if not better. The only problem is that Apple has more hardware products to sell rather than Microsoft’s dominant software-based assortment. I mean, it’s not that Microsoft doesn’t have tangible things to offer, after all it does sell some great products like the Xbox 360 console, the Zune player, or complementary goods like video games and the accessories involved, not to mention the other peripherals such as webcam, keyboard or mouse. In addition, Microsoft sell retail software like Windows Vista and Microsoft Office, via affiliate partners and retailers. However, I’m not so sure it is the same variety as Apple’s products, including Mac, iPod and iPhone, with all the assorted accessories. Still, these are just rumors and I haven’t seen some major steps, coming from Microsoft direction, to carry out this project, but I am more than sure it crossed some Redmond minds. True or false, great or wrong, only time would tell.

Windows Vista Is The Biggest Tech Disappointment Of 2007

Bad Vista PC WORLD ranked the top 15 biggest tech disappointments of 2007, and guess who’s no.1 in the list - Well…there’s no need to be a genius to figure out that Microsoft Windows Vista is the “winner”.

According to the magazine, despite the cool Aero interface, the efficient integrated security and parental controls, the OS isn’t delivering the excitement that was expected from 5 years of development system. The vista is slower than the XP, it requires some hefty hardware modifications and isn’t compatible with many nowadays drivers. This flaws brought many users to keep distance from the software or to downgrade back to Windows XP.

In this competition, Vista managed to “defeat” candidates like Facebook Beacon, Internet Security, Microsoft Zune and Office 2007, on its way to be nominated as #1 Tech Disappointment of the year.

Windows Vista SP1 Eliminates Anti Piracy

windows vista unlockWhen Microsoft released the new Windows Vista OS, it declared a war against counterfeiting legal copies of the system, by embedding Windows Genuine Advantage program in the Vista. The program was designed to check for illegal copies of the operating system and lock them up, once they have been unveiled.

Now, as part of the new upcoming Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Microsoft decided to kill the WGA program that locked those fake copies, and instead, embedded a soften version of a reiterative popup notifier, to warn the users their copy of Windows Vista is not genuine.
